Holistic Therapy

The holistic approach to health takes into account the whole person, mind, body and soul, including lifestyle rather than just focusing on the symptom or the 'part' that has the problem. If one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (example physical, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health. The way you sit or stand  can impact on your back, neck and shoulders very easily, the way you walk or run, even the way you lie at night, stress often manifests pain in the body too, anxiety and feeling out of sync are other causes of imbalance which can lead to referred pain.

Holistic therapists believe that the body has a vital force or life energy. It is this force that protects the body from disease and allows it to heal. One can achieve optimal health -- the primary goal of holistic practice -- by gaining proper balance in life.
Holistic therapists aim to help the client restore the balance, thus allowing the body to help to heal itself, naturally.

Holistic therapy is also known as Complementary Therapy as it can work alongside medical care, recently therapist have had a breakthrough and are finally recognised under Healthcare. Holistic is now known under the new title of Biopsychosocial something which has been known for years but is now being actively followed. Treating people not just pain.

What is wellness?

According to Dr Hettler of the National Wellness Institute, wellness consists of six dimensions, Social, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Occupational and Spiritual.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.
